Should I or Should I Not File a Complain?

Went to see the doctor today. The nurse gave me some medications which I've never seen before. When asked, she went back to the doctor and the doctor said it's the same as what I was having previously, change of brand only. He is the doctor right? So I have to trust him right? I questioned the nurse why they are not giving me the original brand, her reply was cos it's out of stock.

Came home and was about to take the medications when I realised the date "Feb 2010". Helloooo, today is 28th Feb 2010! I was so pissed I called up the clinic and was told to go back for an exchange for the ORIGINAL brand that I wanted! Full of angst, I was thinking

1) Why lie to me and said the original were out of stock?
2) Why give me something different though I insisted on getting the same?
3) Why give me something different with EXPIRED date?

I went back to the clinic, now filled with loads of patients. Purposely said in a loud voice:

Me: how can you all do that? How can you give me expired medications? What if I din check?
Nurse (Apologetic, though I know it was not her idea): I'm sorry. I'll change for you to the original ones.
Me: It's not about changing but you all should not give expired medications
Nurse: Sorry but I think it's not expired
Me (Angry): What not expired? What is this printed here?
Nurse 2 to Nurse 1: I think you better tell doctor about it. Really expired
Me: Then why just now you tell me out of stock? Now got stock?
Nurse 1: Ya. Sorry I did not check properly just now. Sorry about it.

I took the medication and walked off.

I know it's not the fault of the nurse because she is not suppose to dispense anything different without the doctor's instructions. It happened that they did not notice that the new brand medication had expired. To be honest, working in a clinic before, I suspect these are samples given by suppliers to the doctors to try but these unethical doctors who studied so much wants to be greedy and sell it for a profit.

I'm just one unlucky chap to get it. It's the doctor's attitude that pisses me off. I know the nurses are just scapegoats.

I thought doctors are suppose to save? I thought they are suppose to be caring? We trusted their judgement and diagnosis so we assumed that everything they said are correct since they are experts in it. I trusted that he did not shortchange me when he gave me the new brand but why did he make his nurses lie that the original bran ran out? What is his motive? If not for the expiry date, I will think this is a good doctor!

Are business to good these days for them? Should I complain against him or let it rest? It's not a major issue but neither is it small... what if some granny eats it? Are they going to answer for that?

Anyway, to make things better, on the way back to exchange for the medications, I found a few pieces of notes in the car park. On second look, they were money! I dunno how all these notes can be flying around in the middle of the car park and they came dispersed, not in one bulk. I went to pick them up and yup, it covered all my medical expenses for today. =)
