Time Flys

I can't believe it but 4 weeks of my life just zoom by and I'm already 1 month old at Fuji Xerox. The past two weeks was easier to pass because I finally have something to do.

Anyway, was super duper pissed with the Events Company. It's one of the worst I ever seen or dealt with thus far. I honestly do not like the boss in the first place when I first saw him. Looks aloof and seems that he only talked to people of higher authority. Just another ah beng... I sure hope I am wrong though but his staff or the way he is handling things, one phrase, cannot make it!

The creative done were amateur. And guess what, when a budget of $100K was given, they can come back with a proposal of $200K. So what is the budget for in the first place huh?

In my whole marketing life (although it's short la), I do not have to copy write. They actually have the cheek to ask me to copy write my old direct mailer. I felt as if I'm the advertising agency myself. Why do we pay you to just do the layout? Doesn't make sense. They should be professional when it comes to copy writing and they just pluck everything I write into the direct mailer! Then my boss told me... why did you copy write for them? They should do it themselves. Faintz....

Today was bad. All credibility lost! I told them that my budget for door gift is about $1.80 per piece. And they came back with $2 telling me that they have check with many suppliers and this was the best price. Having done all these at Tan Chong, I realized it is not that expensive so I called my old contacts and managed to get it at $1.65. I told them to use my contact instead and another email came telling me that they are still using their own supplier but for goodwill purposes, they will lower it to $1.65 too. The point is, I'm the client... Why did they make decision without asking me? I felt so pai seh towards the old contact I had. Then the price war begins.... Old contact giving me $1.30!!! See how much they mark up!!! I said $1.80 budget didn't I? Knowing that we have burst the budget terribly, why mark up like 50%!???!! Anyway, the one that gained most was me since no matter how the price war ended, I'm the fisherman and will surely benefit. So the events company was not happy obviously, thinking why this new girl (me) tried to lower their margin and wrote me a long email telling me that their cost is higher because they will mark up 8% as a service charge. $1.30 to $2 is 8%? Think I'm dumb? I went ahead with my old contacts. Pissed...

In the past at Tan Chong, events companies that I dealt with are so transparent. They will show me the quotations form other people and after we decided on one, they will mark up 10% of it only. That's all. This time, the current one do not show us any quotation and tell us point blank that the price is blah blah blah... I find it weird seriously but they have been working with my boss for 3 years so it's hard to break the news to my boss that they suck. I will tell her about this incident on Monday. Talking about honesty...

Anyway, just few days ago, dad was so angry with me that he slammed my call and complained to my mum about me because of a stupid SCV box. It is the first time he is doing this to me and I was so sad about it. Anyway, it's a small issue and it's settled. Perhaps my laziness and taking my loved ones for granted have caused me to procrastinate the things I'm suppose to fulfill for him. He was angry that I am able to help others but kept delaying his request.

Anyway, weekend is here. Peeps, enjoy~~!! Before we get into the rat race again on Monday... all except one person will not... You know who you are!! :p
