The Extremely Sweaty Trip

The long overdue pictures:

Just came back from Hong Kong and man, it's not only humid but EXTREMELY DAMN HUMID! I'm not exaggerating but 5 minutes out of the air-con area and I'm sweating like a pig. The temperature is similar to Singapore but the humidity is really high. I'm so sick of the sticky me. Anyway, I think it's due to the fact that everywhere is surrounded by tall building and no trees nor greens thus wind is unable to blow into the city?

The best thing is, the people there wear jackets and cardigans. I think they are used to it but I really cannot stand it. Even Ben said "Hong Kong: a place of sweaty armpits and refugees queueing for food" haha... Lines are always so long and even near 11pm, they are still queuing up for food. It's a city that never sleeps. This is the third time I'm there but I do not remember the hot weather although I know the crowd is bad. Everywhere, every time, people everywhere even on weekdays. But I guessed that is the reason why the city is so lively and I understand why Coco said Singaporeans are 'weird' (cos we sleep early, shops closes early, no shops or shopping malls below our flats). Although we are all Chinese but culture wise, we still have a little difference.

Funny thing is, we realised that every time we stepped into a restaurant or cafe, they will automatically served us tea. And automatically, we will drink it BUT I was told it was meant for us to wash our utensils! To think that we still find it yummy & wanted a refill. haha.. Luckily we din or else we will throw Singaporeans' faces. haha...It's a habit to wash the utensils with tea before eating. Peeps, do note if you are there. =p

Met up with frens over there. Two years yet they did not change much at all. Oh, I also went to Madame Tussauds and took many pictures with people like Andy Lau, Leon Lai, Jolin Cai, Angelina Jolie etc. Hmm, Cecilia Chung is not as tall as I perceived. Maybe my height but she's so slim or should I say skinny thus looking tall. Jay Chou is as tall as Ben only and we know, Ben is not t***... ahem.. lolx...

Surprisingly, I did not get anything much this time round. It's really a walking (walked from Tsim Tsha Tsiu to Tai Zi - about 1.5 hr walk from Bukit Timah to my home?), meeting frens and sight seeing trip. For a record, I only got 3 pieces of clothes and 1 pair of shoes when usually I will tug back a heavy fully filled luggage.

Next, Taiwan or Korea!! Anyone???

Today is Sunday & I No Longer Hates It

Ever since I tendered, I'm more motivated to go work. I no longer loof Sundays and am looking forward to the final countdown. But I seriously will miss my colleagues. Every good things have to part one day. I really hate this feeling. Will we be difted apart in 1 to 2 years time? Will we be as close? Are we too busy to even meet up when lifes get busy? I seriously hope not. Am trying to spend as much time with them as possible now. Hope they will get out of the shit hole soon too.

Some Things Are Too Good To Be True But It's True!

Anyway guys, I may be doing some temp work at HSBC for the next 4 months before I get another full time job. Because I've passed my M5 and M9, I just have to go HSBC and do some admin for financial planning for like 8 days a month for the next 4 months and get paid $2,000 (without CPF deduction). That's like only 2 days a week. Meanwhile, I will go take up computer courses and when January comes, it will be a new year. I thought about how this will hurt my resume but then about, $2000 to work for only 8 days a month and to really take a rest now? Too good to be true but it's true and I'm super tempted seriously. Besides, I can't even get a job now so I have really nothing to lose. Thus I will make it up by going for computer courses such as Photoshop, FreeHand, Illustrator, Dreamwaver. My friend's wife is in the HR department and was surprised that I do not have the skills... She is surprised that at this age, how come I do not know such softwares. It's like telling me that people do not know how to use Microsoft words... same reaction so I better go do something if I want to survive in the competitive market.

So most likely, I will take up this short contract job, after the 2nd month, starts finding a job again and by the 4th month, when contract is over, I hope to be employed officially FULL TIME.

Thank God for this out of nowhere short term solution. =D

Movies and More Movies

Seems that the month of August & September are filled with lots of nice movies. Now I have all the time in the world to watch them one by one during off peak ours haha~~ Up, The Last House On The Left, The Final Destination, Shorts, The Ugly Truth, Imagine That... ...

I've recently caught the lame 'Where Got Ghost?', the mysterious 'Orphan' and the oh-so-predictable 'The Proposal'. Those who wants to catch the shows, please do not read on because I'm going to share about the movies.

Where Got Ghost: Hmm, as usual, Jack Neo's movie is always filled with Hokkien jokes and only if you are in the Hokkien environment frequently then you may find the jokes relevant, or rather, funny. Pretty lame too. Actually, I do not find it scary at all. It's more of those movies where you go in stressful and come out feeling stupid after a good laugh. ahha. But then again, not as funny as I thought. Go if you have time. The movie was divided into 3 parts. The first one was about this old ah bengs trying to earn quick and fast cash through some stupid idea. But I must say that their stupid idea is a smart move. No one in the right mind would have thought of it. Lolx... You see, they go through the Yellow Pages and call people in Singapore telling them that they should place the 4D number given to them cos it's suppose to be given by 'god'. Should they win, they have to donate a small % of the money to this 'god' to build a temple. And yes, they gave 0000 to 9999 numbers out. Surely every time, someone would win and they would have commissions to take... Brillant idea isn't it? ahha.. Anyway, that was the net take out and most memorable part of the story. The other two was funny but not worth mentioning.

Orphan: I love this show seriously although it's a little teeny weeny draggy. Those who think that it is a horror show and wun wanna watch it, I can assure you that it's not. It's a mystery movie. I think the plot is really out of the world too. After the show, I kept thinking about Esther. haha... I mean not the haunting way but her behaviour. It's unimaginable how a child can be that evil till I knew the ending. Anyway, Esther was a child adaopted by Kate and John who has lost their baby girl and would love to share their joy with the adopted child. They have had another 2 children already, Daniel and Max, a little girl who is mute. Anyway, Esther was extraordinary because she is smart, witty, mature. However, she is always in her doll dresses which apparently is not what a normal child would wear most times. She locks the door when she bath when other children her age (she's 9) would not so that their parents would know what they are are doing inside in case something happened. She dislike to see dentists and tries to break up her parents. In the movie, she was always with mute Max (I think she's about 5) and would manipulate her to do things out of fear. Firstly, Esther pushed her classmate down the slide and causes her to break a leg just because the girl joked about her dress. Next, she stoned a pigeon that Daniel had accidently hurt. She got bold and tried to stop a car by pushing Max to the road and used the hammer to kill the driver. She set a fire to kill her brother, Daniel and when she did not succeed, she took the pillow and suffocate him when he was hospitalised. It was unbelievable for a little girl to do that. Then comes the twist... The mum realised that there is something wrong with her and went further to investigate despite the fact that no one believed her that Esther was a bad girl. Eventually, it was revealed that Esther was not a 9 year old girl but a 33 year old lady who has hormonal problem thus looked like a child. She was from some mental hospital from Russia and had been violent and killing people around her. That explains why she was always in those weird dresses and needs to lock the bathroom because she needs to cover her figure. She would not see a dentist because a dentist could tell her age. Anyway, quite a sad ending because the dad and brother died because of her... I think it's worth the time to watch :P

The Proposal: I thought it's an ok movie. Very predictable and some parts were really funny. It's a typical Sandra Bullock show if you got what I mean... Like Miss Congenality... Magaret is the boss (a famous New York editor) of Andrew. Andrew is her PA and everyone in the office dislike her, including Andrew. Anyway, Magaret is getting deported back to Canada and in order to stay in USA, she has to get married so she promised Andrew that she would promote him if he were to help her out. Taking a big risk, the Immigrant Officer warned them about false marriage and both could end up in the jail. They are suppose to take a couple's test in order to see if they are faking it 3 days later. So Andrew took Magaret home so they could learn as much about each other as possible. Thinking that Andrew was a normal guy, the big city gal, Magaret was surprised that the humble Andrew was actually some rich guy's son. Anyway, during the 3 days together, the fake marriage turned into true love. =) Something out of the world too but well, a heart warming show.

So what's next...... Shall go for the 3D 'The Final Destination' with my colleagues. The last time we went for 'Drag Me To Hell' and for 3/4 of the movie, Adrian was like covering his eyes and Joseph, Barry and I were laughing so much at him rather than concentrating on the movie. Even when his eyes are covered, he jumped when there were loud sounds. lolx... See if it happens again this time. haha.. Seems that most guys do not like horror shows. I dun understand why too. Even Ben-jamin :P (he hates it when i call his full name) lolx
