Reflecting Back

Seriously, May is not a good month for me. I've been really tighted up and busy with work, exam, interviews, yet, so badly wanted rest. Finally, I'm able to sit down today to pen down what had happened all these weeks.

After sending like XXX number of resumes since 1.5 months ago, things started to pick up and I began to hear from them. Peeps, the lead time is 1.5 months so be paitient! Anyway, was shortlisted for an interview with Gan Hup Lee (if case you dunno, this is the company where our rice came from), Jurong Bird Park (need me to say? this is where the birds are), Prima (bread lor), M1 and next, Health Promotion Board coming next. *Sweat*

Though wanting to leave badly but I'm not jumping from one hell to another so am pretty choosy at times. So far, M1 seems to be the place suitable for human. haha... Hoping to get a second round soon.

Gan Hup Lee: Got the offer on the spot. Had the interview with the manager and after awhile, ask me if I would be able to wait and meet the director. Of cos, I agreed. Don't want to waste time traveling to such ulu place. Oh well, another traditional SME, family business. Sound alot like the one I'm in. Got a little intimidated by the director. Putting me down, telling me I'm so green, asking me to take a pay cut which I refused, yet offer me the job higher than my current pay. Mind games... Anyway, I did not take it up as it seems that I have to be the trainer, the marketer, the delivery woman, the sales person. All in one for a pathetic 10% increment. In short, BSBH in hokkien. Talked to a few people and all felt that this job is really not suitable for me, for my personality, for my future. Ok next moved on...

Jurong Bird Park: On the same day, went back to this ulu place again for this interview. Lady is pretty nice. She's the manager. She's also new there. Told me the whole team is very young like me and her (I think she's 27?) which tells me that this place has very high turnover. Everything went well until she told me that people there worked overtime daily. Expected to be punctual but NOT expected to go home on time. Working hours are worst than what I'm having now! 8.30am to 6.30pm yet OT daily. Avg pple go back like 8 to 9pm. No wonder she always call me at those timing to confirm my interview. This puts me off totally. I do not want to sell my life away, away from the city and town, Monday to Friday, stuck at Jurong Bird Park. May start to talk bird language along the way man ... lolx... anyway, have not heard from her since. I'm just glad that God has show me signs that this was not the job for me too. After the interview, I felt so uneasy. I felt so burdened for whatever reason and I just kept pondering on it through the night. Then the next day, Adrian told me his gf has a friend there who just tendered. Work there is crazy. Senior manager is tough thus the high turnover. After hearing that, all is well This is not the door that God opens... =) Move on again...

Prima: Even before I go for the interview, I cancelled it. Again, God suddenly send people to tell me the culture about the company. Again, a traditional company. Quite a mess now. People wants to get out just like how I'm feeling now. ;p

M1: My best bet. Really hope to get in though. This was referred by Carine. Went for the interview on my birthday (early morning I went for exam and failed too), lady was nice, Hr was nice, benefits are good. They were surprised that my current job does not pay me OT and yet I have to work on alternate Saturday. To think that they are amazed makes me feel good as I know this would not happen at M1. Totally different job scope so kinda challenging and I have to learn from scratch. See if they call me back soon for the 2nd round...

Health Promotion Board: Coming... 29 May.. If M1 calls me, I will cancel this . ;p

So much for my job search updates.
